Senior Box Program

Senior Boxes are distributed monthly to qualified seniors through the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). These supplemental food boxes are administered in 26 Central Pennsylvania Counties by the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank to income-qualified seniors aged 60 years or older. (See income guidelines)

See If You Qualify For The Senior Box Program

To participate in the Senior Box Program, you must register in advance. Registration will take place every Tuesday from 3:30pm to 6pm at 130 S. Penn St. A limited number of boxes are provided. If you are eligible and approved for a CSFP box, you will be placed on a waiting list.

To register, you must bring:

    • Verification of ID, Age, and Address. (This can be accomplished by using a Driver’s License, Passport, Government Issued Photo ID, etc.)
    • Verification of Household Income – This is the TOTAL gross income of all members of your household. (This Amount can be verified with a W-2, Previous year’s tax return, Social Security Award Letter, etc.)

*If you do not have the above with you, you cannot be registered for the program.

Once registered, you will have the opportunity to give a name for a proxy (or proxies) to pick up your food packages for you. To do this, you will need to sign a proxy form in person and provide the name and address of each proxy. When picking up Senior Boxes, proxies must also sign the form.

Site Delivery Program

In 2010, SPO expanded its outreach by establishing our Site Delivery Program (SDP) to those with disabilities, transportation issues or work schedules that conflict with our distribution hours. This program is only offered once a month on the 4th Tuesday and currently serves 50 individuals. This is another example of how SPO is committed to meeting the nutritional needs of those unable to participate in our weekly Distribution Program. From our dedicated volunteers who organize and assemble, to our drivers who make the deliveries, the continued success of this program is largely due to their dedication. Anyone wishing for more information on our Site Delivery Program please contact us through our Send a Message feature or call 717-477-9100.
