Grow a Row for SPO
If you want to help out beyond monetary donations, SPO’s Grow a Row Program allows people within the community to share their harvest. Plant an extra row of fruits or veggies for Shippensburg Produce and Outreach. Then drop off the produce between 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. any Tuesday at 130 S. Penn St. If every gardener plants an extra row of produce and donates the harvest, we can make a huge impact on reducing hunger in Shippensburg!
Gleaning
Much of the produce that SPO receives is from “gleaners.” Gleaning gives farmers a way to give back to the community. Did you know more than 96 billion pounds of food are left in the fields each year? Instead of wasting crops, SPO asks farmers to donate them to help feed the hungry.
Unfortunately farmers don’t always have the extra time or manpower to go through and pick the leftover crops, especially during harvest months. The key to gleaning is having committed volunteers to help farmers pick the crops. Can you help glean or provide a field for gleaning? How can you help? Corporate Sponsorship
Shippensburg Produce and Outreach is a nonprofit that provides those in need with fresh produce and other services. This means that the donations we receive aren’t being spent on things like commercial expenses. We have no administrative overhead.
